Hilton Extends its Policy of a Food Credit Replacing Breakfast

Hilton Honors has quietly updated its website to suggest that the daily Food & Beverage credit – offered to Diamond and Gold members at hotels in the United States – will be extended “through 2022”.

When this change was first introduced, many InsideFlyer readers expressed their disapproval. Despite this negative feedback from customers, replacing free breakfast with a credit clearly works for Hilton Honors and/or its franchisees.

On February 1, 2022, Hilton Honors will also increase the credit amount at its “full service and lifestyle brands” – i.e. Hilton, Doubletree, Curio Collection etc. – from $12 to $15…  ($18 in select markets)

Although this isn’t a recent change, Hilton Honors has also clarified that two guests staying in the same room BOTH receive a credit.

If you are travelling alone and the agent at the front desk is sympathetic, you can often register 2 guests and receive the double credit to spend on yourself…

What do you think?

InsideFlyer (ok, maybe just me…) has made its views clear over the last 6 months…

  1. Why Hilton is playing with fire
  2. Is free breakfast a deal breaker?

But how has this policy change worked out for you so far? Have you happily been spending your credit in the hotel bar? Paying the extra to have a full breakfast? Or simply choosing a different hotel chain/brand? Let us know in the comments section…
