The split of Radisson Rewards was completed last week. If you are based in North America, you have automatically become a member of Radisson Rewards Americas.

Radisson has announced its first promotion – it is pretty straightforward. Members can earn DOUBLE points for stays between June 21st and September 12th, 2021. You must BOOK before August 29th.

Because of the “split”, this offer is only valid for stays at properties in North, South and Central America, including the United States, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean

How Valuable is this Promotion?

Members can earn 20 points per US dollar spent on the pre-tax room rate. This promotion, therefore, offers an additional 20 points per US dollar spent.

Occasionally, Radisson Rewards Americas will sell points for 0.35 cents each. If we take that as a reference point, an additional 20 points would work out to a 7% rebate on your pre-tax spend.

What About the Rest of the World?

So far, I have been unable to find a similar promotion that would apply to the “old” Radisson Rewards. It appears, therefore, that the two programs – Radisson Rewards Americas and Radisson Rewards – will diverge in their promotions.  This would add yet another layer of complication to an already messy situation.

The Bottom Line

If you’ve already got a Radisson stay or two planned, then you should definitely register and pick up the bonus points. But this promotion certainly doesn’t provide enough incentive to move any stays over to Radisson.

That said, there are some pretty interesting room rates available in Europe at the moment, which could work perfectly for those readers who aren’t really concerned about points and elite status, but just want a good room at a good rate in a convenient hotel…
