In the latest installment of our monthly rundown of hotel chain promotions, these are the main chain-wide promos available in May 2021.

World of Hyatt

 

Hyatt’s promotion will run until June 15, 2021. Registration is required before May 15th (click here).

Members can earn:

• 2,000 bonus points every second night (nights do NOT need to be consecutive)
• After ten nights, a free night certificate valid for 180 days at any Category 1-4 hotel (Cat. 4 = 15,000 points)

Worth It?

The effective 1,000 bonus points per night works out to a rebate of $15+. This is great for cheap stays (and even better for award stays, since they attract the bonus as well), but clearly not fantastic for expensive stays.

In normal times, the free night certificate would be quite valuable, but ongoing travel restrictions make it harder to extract maximum value.

Hilton Honors

You have one day left to take advantage of Hilton’s 2,000 point per stay promotion. For the rest of the month (May 3rd until September 6th) – click here to register – you can earn:

• Double points for stays of one or two nights
• Triple points for stays of three nights or longer

Worth It?

If you have long, expensive stays planned for the summer, then the triple points element will be quite lucrative. Fortunately, you will still receive double points on those one-night stays you might be using to chase elite status via “stays”.

IHG Rewards

IHG’s promotion starts on May 15th. Registration is required (click here). Members can earn:

• Stay 1 – NO bonus
• Stay 2 – Double points (i.e. an additional 10 points per US dollar spent)
• Stay 3+ – Triple points (i.e. an additional 20 points per US dollar spent)

Worth It?

If you have an expensive stay planned for the summer, then the triple points element could be quite lucrative. However, you will need to squeeze in two cheaper stays beforehand, to avoid that “no bonus” stay applying to your big spend…

 

Marriott Bonvoy

Marriott has not announced a chain-wide promotion that will be running in May 2021.

 

Radisson Rewards Americas

Radisson Rewards Americas is in the process of splitting from the global version of Radisson Rewards. No promotions are planned for May 2021.

The Bottom Line

If you are promo conscious and have multiple elite statuses, then your May 2021 hotel stays should be with Hilton or Hyatt…  A very cheap IHG stay might also come in handy at the end of the month…
