Delta fleet renewal
Fleet renewal is one of the actions airline currently take to become more energy efficient and decrease their carbon footprint. Next to that, new aircraft also offer a significantly better onboard experience with more comfort and better amenities.
Delta Air Lines is not an exception to this trend in the aviation industry. The SkyTeam carrier has recently announced that it will acquire 20 brand new Airbus A350-1000 aircraft to strengthen its long haul fleet. The A350-1000 is slightly larger and can accommodate more passengers, depending the configuration. The airline claims that the A350 is over 20% more fuel efficient than retiring planes.
Delta currently has commitments for 284 narrowbody and 48 widebody aircraft. Delivery of those aircraft is expected in the coming years. This includes the latest A350 order.

More premium seats
Delta plans to offer 15% more premium seats on their new A350-1000 equipment compared to retiring aircraft. It is not yet clear how the cabin configuration will exactly look like. It is however not likely that the cabin will differ much from the A350-900 configuration.
Generally, the A350-900 offers 32 Delta One Suites, 48 Delta Premium Select seats (Premium Economy) and 126 Economy Class seats. In Economy Class 36 of the seats are actually in Delta Comfort+, which offers more comfort by means of a larger seat pitch and wider seats.
As said, the additional space on the A350-1000 will most probably be allocated to premium seat like Delta One and/or Delta Premium Select.
