British Airways Fuel Surcharges

British Airways Fuel Surcharges

Be prepared to pay a bit more when redeeming miles for award flights on British Airways. The airline last raised the fuel surcharge for award tickets in December 2010 and is raising the cost again as a result of the increase in the price of jet fuel, which has risen 14 percent since the end of last year. The fuel surcharge increase will only apply to longhaul flights and shorthaul services will not be effected.

As of Feb. 8, the fuel surcharge on World Traveller and World Traveller Plus tickets has increased by #12 per sector (#24 roundtrip) and First and Club World tickets has increased #17 per sector (#34 roundtrip). With the change, World Traveller flights over nine hours will now have a fuel surcharge of #88 (from #76) per sector and #75 (from #63) on flights less than nine hours. World Traveller Plus flights over nine hours now have a fuel surcharge of #106.50 (from #94.50) per sector and #85 (from #73) on flights less than nine hours. And for First and Club World flights, the fuel surcharge will be #125 per sector (from #108) on flights over nine hours and #105 (from #88) on flights less than nine hours.
