Hilton Honors has given us plenty of advance warning of the promotion that it will run between September 7th and December 31st, 2021.
As might be expected, the promotion offers double points to all, with triple points available to American Express credit card holders who use their card to pay for the stay.
Registration is required, which you can do by clicking here.
Hilton Honors regulars are surely well aware that they earn 10 points per US dollars spent pre-tax. As a result, a double point promotion means that they can earn another 10 points per $.
Should You Get a Hilton Co-Branded Credit Card?
At InsideFlyer, we aren’t in the business of selling you credit cards. But we do admit that the Aspire credit card is appealing. Credit card holders receive complimentary Diamond status, along with a number of perks that more than cover the cost of the annual fee.
An Aspire credit card holder participating in this promotion would earn:
- 10 base points per $
- 10 promo bonus points per $
- 10 tier bonus points per $ (due to the Diamond status that comes with the card)
- 14 points per $ for paying with your Aspire credit card
- 10 bonus points per $ for paying with Aspire credit card
- For a total of 54 points per $ spent (pre-tax)
The Bottom Line
Unfortunately, a Hilton Honors point is one of the least valuable of the major hotel chains – so you will need many tens of thousands for an award night at an attractive hotel. However, if you commit to the whole Hilton ecosystem (including credit card and elite status), then you will also earn a huge number of points on paid stays. But for those of us who aren’t so committed, a double points promotion is rather weak…
