Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and Shangri-La Gold Circle now offer an interesting partnership called Infinite Journeys, which gives you the opportunity to earn elite tier membership status sooner in both frequent travel loyalty programs — as well as earn both Gold Circle award points and KrisFlyer miles when you stay at Shangri-La hotel and resort properties.

In addition to earning Gold Circle award points on all qualifying spend, you will also receive 500 KrisFlyer miles per qualifying stay at any Shangri-La hotel and resort property; Kerry hotel; Traders hotel; or Hotel Jen worldwide.

Mutual Elite Status Tier Recognition and Matching

To receive greater recognition and enjoy accelerated membership elite tier status across both the Golden Circle and KrisFlyer frequent travel loyalty programs, you must:

You will automatically qualify for KrisFlyer Elite Silver tier status membership if you already have earned Golden Circle Jade or Diamond elite tier status — and you will enjoy an accelerated upgrade to KrisFlyer Elite Gold tier status when you complete the required number of flights operated by either Singapore Airlines or SilkAir within four months of registration:

  • Golden Circle Jade elite tier status member: Three eligible flights
  • Golden Circle Diamond elite tier status member: One eligible flight

You become a Golden Circle Gold elite tier status member on enrollment if you already have earned PPS Club or KrisFlyer Elite Gold tier status — and you will enjoy an accelerated upgrade to Golden Circle Jade elite tier status membership when you stay for one night on a qualifying rate at any Shangri-La hotel and resort property; Kerry hotel; Traders hotel; or Hotel Jen worldwide.

In order to enjoy the accelerated upgrade, you must:

  • Be an eligible member of both frequent travel loyalty programs; and
  • Have successfully registered for matching your membership elite tier status prior to your flight or stay

Freely and Easily Convert Between Your Miles and Points

You can freely and easily convert between your Golden Circle award points and KrisFlyer miles.

Enjoy a bonus conversion rate of 1 point to 1.25 miles — which is a rate of 25 percent — when you convert your Golden Circle award points to KrisFlyer miles. A minimum of 2,500 Golden Circle award points is required for each conversion.

Enjoy a conversion rate of 12 KrisFlyer miles to one Golden Circle award point when you convert your KrisFlyer miles to Golden Circle award points. A minimum of 20,000 KrisFlyer miles is required for each conversion; and a maximum of 180,000 KrisFlyer miles can be converted per calendar year.

Shangri-La Golden Circle Information in Brief

You will earn one Golden Circle award point for every qualifying United States dollar spent at greater than 98 hotel and resort properties around the world — regardless of whether you are staying the night or just visiting to enjoy a meal, drink or relaxing spa treatment.

Redemption stays start from as few as 1,000 Golden Circle award points per night; and room upgrades start from just 800 Golden Circle award points. You can even treat your family members to the Shangri-La experience by creating a redemption group of up to a maximum of five people.

Instant redemption is available at greater than 500 restaurants in Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts — no vouchers are required.

Golden Circle award points can be redeemed for a variety of attractive rewards; or converted to airline frequent flier loyalty program miles.

Golden Circle Jade elite tier status members can enjoy complimentary partner-stays, daily breakfast, early check-in and late check-out, as well as other exclusive privileges and benefits.

You will not able to earn both Miles and Points for any Qualifying Stay at any Participating Hotels and enjoy any benefits of Infinite Journeys under these Infinite Journeys Terms — regardless of eligibility — until 48 hours after membership linkage is completed.

An Infinite Journeys Participant who has successfully linked his or her memberships for Infinite Journeys at least 48 hours prior to checking out of any Participating Hotels will earn Miles if the Infinite Journeys Participant meets the requirements — regardless of the date on which the Qualifying Stay was booked.

Any Miles earned through Infinite Journeys in addition to Points earned in accordance with the Golden Circle Programme Terms, will be credited to a Golden Circle Member’s KrisFlyer Member account within eight weeks after the Points are posted to the Golden Circle account for the Qualifying Stay.

An Infinite Journeys Participant who has successfully linked his or her Golden Circle and KrisFlyer memberships will earn 500 Miles for each Qualifying Stay at any Participating Hotels and Points in accordance with the Golden Circle Programme Terms if the reservation includes the Infinite Journeys Participant’s Golden Circle Membership number.

An individual who is an existing Golden Circle Jade member, Golden Circle Diamond member, KrisFlyer Basic member, KrisFlyer Elite Silver member or who has registered for this benefit at least once before will not be eligible to register for Golden Circle Jade membership under Infinite Journeys.

An individual who is an existing Golden Circle Gold member, KrisFlyer Elite Gold or PPS Club member or who has registered for this benefit at least once before will not be eligible to register for KrisFlyer Elite membership status under Infinite Journeys.

KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS members who have successfully registered for this benefit are required to complete one qualifying stay in order to enjoy the Golden Circle Jade membership status for one year.

Your membership accounts in both programs must be under the same name.

Upon successful registration, a KrisFlyer Basic member will be upgraded to KrisFlyer Elite Silver membership status within eight weeks of registration. An existing KrisFlyer Elite Silver member will enjoy a one-year extension to his or her KrisFlyer Elite Silver membership status within eight weeks of registration.

A Golden Circle Diamond member who has successfully registered for this benefit isrequired to purchase and travel once on a Singapore Airlines or SilkAir commercial flight in any booking class except booking class codes G ‘Group fares’, award and codeshare flights, within four months of registration in order to enjoy the KrisFlyer Elite Gold membership status for one year.

A Golden Circle Jade member who has successfully registered for this benefit is required to purchase and travel three times on a Singapore Airlines or SilkAir commercial flight in any booking class except booking class codes G ‘Group fares’, award and codeshare flights, within four months of registration in order to enjoy the KrisFlyer Elite Gold membership status for one year.

Summary

Converting miles and points — as well as an ongoing matching of elite tier status — between different partner frequent travel loyalty programs as a result of linking accounts is rare. People were thrilled when a free exchange of points and elite level status matching became possible between the Marriott Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest frequent guest loyalty programs — and that was after they both became part of the same company as the result of an acquisition…

…so this partnership of frequent travel loyalty programs between two different companies in two different industries is rather unique with regard to its flexibility for members.
