Through Monday, November 21, 2016, you can earn a minimum of 1,000 Avios from both the Avios Travel Rewards and British Airways Executive Club frequent flier loyalty programs when you conduct what is considered a new transfer.

Earn 1,000 Bonus Avios When You Collect Somewhere New

While the terms and conditions which apply to both the Avios Travel Rewards and British Airways Executive Club frequent flier loyalty programs are basically the same — the minor differences are listed below the select overall terms and conditions in this article — there is one distinctly main difference about which you should know:

• Avios Travel Rewards: Only one bonus award of 1,000 Avios will apply for a household account.
• British Airways Executive Club: Each member within a British Airways Executive Club Household account can qualify for a bonus Avios award.

Select Overall Terms and Conditions

Register and collect Avios with a new partner through Monday, November 21, 2016 to receive 1,000 bonus Avios.

Only one bonus award will apply regardless of the number of new partners with which you collect somewhere new. A new partner is classed as a partner with which you have not collected within the previous twelve months.

Avios collected through the new partner must be shown in your Avios account during the promotional period in order to qualify for the bonus Avios award. Avios awards through collection partners will be subject to the individual partner terms and conditions.

All standard Avios collected will be awarded as per the individual Partner terms and conditions. All bonus Avios will be awarded by Monday, January 30, 2017.

Exclusions apply, as the following collection partners are exempt from this promotion:

• Purchase, gift or transfers of Avios
• Survey partners — including but not limited to:
  • E-rewards
  • Reward for Thoughts
  • Survey Sampling International
• Member Get Member referrers
• Shell Drivers’ Club
• Avios awarded as a result of referring a friend

 

Avios Travel Rewards Programme Terms and Conditions

The promotion is open to existing Avios UK Travel Rewards Programme — or ATRP — members who have collected and received Avios prior to the commencement of the promotional period.

Exclusions to the promotional period credit date are as follows:

• Avios eStore which has a 35 day delay from transaction to credit date, as customers who make an eligible purchase with Avios eStore within the promotional period will qualify for a bonus.
• Lloyds Bank and TSB, as customers who apply and are accepted for an Avios earning credit card during the promotional period will be eligible for the bonus provided they have Avios credited to their account by December 31, 2016. Customers who start collecting using an Avios earning credit card which they have not used in the previous 12 months will receive the bonus Avios if their account is credited by December 21, 2016.

All Avios eStore partners are classed as one partner. For example, if you have collected via Avios eStore with John Lewis in the last twelve months and then purchase with another retailer via Avios eStore, you will not qualify for a bonus.

British Airways Executive Club Terms and Conditions

The promotion is open to existing British Airways Executive Club — or BAEC — members who have collected and received Avios prior to the commencement of the promotional period.

Exclusions to the promotional period credit date are as follows:

• Gate 365 — which has a delay of 40 days from transaction to credit date, as customers who make an eligible purchase with Gate 365 within the promotional period will qualify for a bonus.
• British Airways American Express; British Airways American Express Premium; and British Airways American Express Premium Plus credit cards, as customers are credited after a statement has been issued. Customers who apply and are accepted for an Avios earning credit card during the Promotional period will be eligible for the bonus provided they have Avios credited to their account by December 31, 2016. Customers who start collecting using an Avios earning credit card which they have not used in the previous 12 months will receive the bonus Avios if their account is credited by December 21, 2016.

All Gate 365 partners are classed as one partner. For example, if you have collected via Gate 365 with John Lewis in the last twelve months and then purchase with another retailer via Gate 365, you will not qualify for a bonus.

Summary

There are two strategies you can implement — but both must be a new transfer method with which you have not collected Avios within the past twelve months: either purchase something which you would have purchased anyway despite this promotion and ensure you are not paying more for it through this promotion…

…or purchase something for as little cost as possible to get the most Avios for the money as possible. One legendary way over the years with many frequent flier loyalty programs — typically used to extend the expiration date of the miles or points in an account — is to purchase one inexpensive song through the iTunes UK store…
