Tepid Starwood Promotion Gets Spiced Up — a Little

Starwood Preferred Guest Take Two promotion 2016

You can earn double Starpoints on eligible stays of two or more consecutive nights at all of the greater than 1,200 Starwood Hotels and Resorts properties worldwide in the Take Two promotion offered by the Starwood Preferred Guest frequent guest loyalty program through Saturday, April 30, 2016 — plus you can also earn a bonus of 250 Starpoints for every night stayed at select hotels and resorts in popular destinations — but you must register for this promotion at any time through Sunday, April 10, 2016.

If you had already completed an eligible stay during the promotion period before registering for this promotion, your Starwood Preferred Guest account will be credited retroactively.

As long as one night of the stay is within the promotion period, bonus Starpoints will be earned on every night during the entire stay — even if part of the stay falls outside the promotion period — and this promotion is “stackable”, meaning that you can take advantage of other promotions simultaneously; but each promotion earns bonuses independently of each other.

What has been added to this promotion since that article is that the more you stay during the promotion, the more you will earn — up to 10,000 Starpoints — as shown below.

  • Earn 2,500 bonus Starpoints when you stay a minimum of 15 nights
  • Earn 7,500 additional bonus Starpoints when you stay a minimum of 25 nights

Eligible Stays, Eligible Nights and Eligible Rates

An eligible stay is defined as two or more consecutive nights paying an eligible rate in the same hotel or resort property — regardless of the number of times you check in or check out of the hotel or resort property and post to your Starwood Preferred Guest frequent guest loyalty program account. Eligible stays with at least two nights during the earning period will receive a bonus of double Starpoints.

An eligible paid night includes at least one night paying a qualifying rate at a select group of hotel and resort properties included in the aforementioned list during the promotion period. Eligible paid nights will receive a bonus of 250 Starpoints.

An eligible rate is any rate which is eligible to earn Starpoints in the Starwood Preferred Guest frequent guest loyalty program.

Stays booked with Free Night Awards or Cash & Points do not count as qualifying stays for this promotion. Even if part of the stay is reserved using an award and part is paid, you will not receive bonus Starpoints for any part of the stay.

How Reservations Must Be Booked

Stays must be booked through any Starpoints-eligible channel, which includes a travel professional who books through those channels or the global distribution system. This is the only way to earn double Starpoints and get our best rates. Stays booked through prepaid third-party channels — such as orbitz.com, expedia.com, travelocity.com, delta.com — are not eligible rate plans; so you will not earn bonus Starpoints and you will not qualify for the offer.

Other Terms and Conditions

With double Starpoints, a member will earn four total Starpoints per eligible United States dollar spent. Elite-level extra Starpoint earnings and other bonuses will not be doubled — only the base earnings of two Starpoints per dollar will be doubled. Other than the duration of time during the promotion period, there is no limit to the number of bonus Starpoints which can be earned.

Other terms and conditions apply.

Summary

Even with the addition of earning a bonus of up to 10,000 extra Starpoints, this promotion does not seem to be very exciting — but it is still better than its original iteration; so you may want to consider participating in it anyway, as registration is required to be eligible for this promotion and there is no cost to you.
