IHG Rewards has launched a very interesting Cyber Monday deal. Members can earn 5x the usual points when:

Good Deal?
A 5x bonus works out to 50 points per US dollar spent. At InsideFlyer’s valuation of 0.5 cents per point, that becomes a “rebate” of 25%.
A few things are worth keeping in mind:
- There is a cap of 70,000 bonus points, including any bonus points you might have already earned from the 3x promo
- You earn the 5x bonus starting with your first stay, unlike the 3x promotion
- Your room rate must be $30 or higher
- Points (or Points + Cash) stays do NOT qualify
I will do some math for you, if you have not previously had any 3x bonus point stays with IHG, the 70,000 point cap is equivalent to $1,750 spend pre-tax. That should give you enough headroom for several hotel nights, but not a very long or expensive stay.
