Air France/KLM Flying Blue now includes any fuel surcharges in the mileage required for award flights within Europe so that members do not have to pay the surcharges separately. This means the number of miles required on most award flights has been raised to compensate for the inclusion of the surcharge. Classic Award tickets in economy class have not changed. You can book award tickets under the old rules until Dec. 31, 2012 by calling the Flying Blue service center.
Flying Blue members can now earn and redeem miles for merchandise at an online shopping mall with merchants such as Yves Rocher, Wehkamp, Molton Brown and L’Occitane. Most retailers offer one or two miles per euro spent. Go to http://www.flyingbluenews.com – choose “Earn Miles” and “Earn while shopping online” to learn more and to shop. To redeem miles for merchandise, the Flying Blue Store offers a variety of products and services, including car rentals and hotel stays. Awards start at 5,200 miles for two e-tickets to European movie theaters UGC. At the high end, you’ll find a six night stay for two at Bucuti & Tara Beach Resorts in Aruba for 315,000 miles.
