Travelers flying in discount coach classes will only earn half as many miles on Etihad starting June 1, 2012. Members will earn 50 percent in coach classes E, U, V, L, Q, M, K and 100 percent in coach classes H, B, Y. Business class W, D will earn 130 percent and C, J will earn 175 percent. First class R will earn 180 percent and A, F will earn 250 percent. Previously, members earned 100 percent of miles flown in all coach classes with a 50 percent bonus in business and a 100 percent bonus in first class. Tier miles will not be changing and members will earn the full amount of Tier miles when flying in discount coach.

Etihad Guest is also adding a fee for award bookings made over the phone. Members will be charged $20 or 2,000 miles to book an award via the Etihad Guest service center. The new service center fee is waived for Etihad Guest Gold and Gold Elite members and does not apply to mileage upgrade awards.
