Air India was originally scheduled to complete the requirements to join the Star Alliance by the end of 2010 and was given an extended deadline of July 31, 2011, which the airline failed to meet. Air India and the Star Alliance first announced in 2007 that the carrier planned to join the Star Alliance and three and a half years later, both parties agreed to suspend the integration process because Air India has not met the minimum joining requirements. While the Star Alliance and Air India may decide to discuss a potential partnership in the future, the national carrier won’t be joining the global airline alliance anytime soon.
