In the current economic downturn, more airlines are considering consolidation to help reduce operating costs. British Airways is in talks with Qantas about a potential merger. A spokesperson for British Airways said the two airlines are looking into the possibility of “a complete and permanent merger” with a “dual-listed company structure.” Both airlines are members of oneworld alliance and frequent flyer program members can already earn and redeem miles with either airline.
