Britain’s MP Eric Joyce has received negative press recently for his expenditures last year — he’s been nicknamed “Air Miles Eric” for spending almost 45,000 pounds on travel expenses. And according to research released by the Liberal Democrats, Tony Blair’s Cabinet attained a staggering 6.5 million air miles last year — the equivalent to flying to the moon and back fourteen times, producing nearly 1,000 tons of carbon dioxide in the process. And the Duchess of Cornwall has not been spared the glare of the media when it comes to flying. A Daily Express article claimed that Camilla has developed a penchant for “expensive and polluting” helicopter travel and compared her with Prince Andrew who has been called “Air Miles Andy.” But not all Royals are frequent flyers. The Express article also mentions the shock that rail commuters recently received when the Queen and Prince Philip were seen taking a 5pm train from London for a weekend trip.
