Delta Cuts Atlanta-Amsterdam Flights This Winter, KLM Steps In

Delta Air Lines is trimming its Atlanta-Amsterdam schedule this winter, with one fewer daily flight on the route. The change comes into effect at the end of October 2025, when Delta will discontinue its Airbus A350 service and rely solely on the Airbus A330.

Fortunately for SkyTeam flyers, KLM is stepping up — doubling its own service between Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to compensate for the reduced Delta capacity.

Delta reduces Atlanta–Amsterdam service

Currently, Delta operates three daily flights between Atlanta and Amsterdam. That drops to two flights per day once the winter schedule begins on October 25, 2025. The last day with three flights scheduled is October 24.

Delta has been using a mix of Airbus A330 and A350 aircraft on the route. The A350s flying ATL–AMS are ex-LATAM “35L” variants, which feature:

  • 339 total seats
  • 30 Delta One seats in a dated 2-2-2 layout (not the Delta One Suites)
  • 63 Delta Comfort+ seats
  • 246 Main Cabin seats

That product inconsistency disappears with the winter schedule, as only the A330 remains on the route. The A330 offers Delta’s newer Premium Select cabin and Delta One Suites in a 1-2-1 configuration, making it a noticeable upgrade over the old LATAM A350 layout.

Delta’s Winter 2025 Schedule (ATL–AMS)

  • DL72 ATL–AMS: dep 6:10 pm, arr 7:40 am (+1) daily
  • DL74 ATL–AMS: dep 9:10 pm, arr 10:40 am (+1) daily
  • DL73 AMS–ATL: dep 10:45 am, arr 3:40 pm daily
  • DL75 AMS–ATL: dep 1:00 pm, arr 5:55 pm daily

KLM fills the gap

Travelers won’t be left with fewer SkyTeam options, however. Starting October 26, 2025, KLM will expand its Amsterdam–Atlanta service to two daily flights, up from one. That means the joint venture maintains four daily flights across the partnership.

KLM will use a mix of Boeing 777s and 787 Dreamliners, both of which feature lie-flat Business Class seating and modern cabins.

KLM’s Winter 2025 Schedule (AMS–ATL)

  • KL623 AMS–ATL: dep 10:00 am, arr 2:35 pm daily
  • KL621 AMS–ATL: dep 5:05 pm, arr 9:45 pm daily
  • KL624 ATL–AMS: dep 4:50 pm, arr 5:55 am (+1) daily
  • KL622 ATL–AMS: dep 11:45 pm, arr 12:55 pm (+1) daily

Bottom line

Delta is cutting one of its three Atlanta–Amsterdam flights this winter, dropping the ex-LATAM A350 and standardizing the route on its A330 fleet. While that means fewer Delta-operated seats, KLM’s decision to double its own service keeps overall SkyTeam capacity stable – and arguably improves the premium cabin experience, given the more modern products both airlines now offer.

For SkyMiles and Flying Blue members, this is a reminder that the joint venture across the Atlantic is alive and well: if one partner pulls back, the other steps in.
