Oneworld alliance member Royal Air Maroc is offering a status match opportunity that is well worth considering. The offer is available until May 31, 2022, but the sooner you apply, the sooner you can take advantage of the benefits…
What Status is Being Matched?
These frequent flyer programs are eligible to be matched.
I have seen ITA mentioned elsewhere – interesting because it is also freely matching status – but I cannot find ITA on the official status match website.

What Status can I be Matched TO?
Royal Air Maroc is willing to match to its Silver and Gold levels. Gold is the level you would want. You will likely require a Star Alliance Gold or SkyTeam Elite Plus equivalent – levels that come with lounge access – to be matched to Gold. But you might get lucky…
Gold status is equivalent to Oneworld Sapphire status, which entitles you to:
- Lounge access for you and ONE guest
- Extra baggage allowance
- Business class check-in desks
- Free seat selection
- Priority security
- Priority boarding
How Can I Apply?
You must become a member of Royal Air Maroc’s Safar Flyer program.
You must then apply for the status match on this website. You must pay 49 euros (roughly $55) as an application fee.
How Long is the Status Good For?
If approved, your new elite status will be valid until March 31, 2023.
Can I Continue to Earn Miles with a Different Program?
Click here to re-read an article about how to use one card for status benefits and a different card for mileage earning.
It is worth highlighting, however, that American Airlines takes a very dim view of using a different Oneworld program for elite benefits, while trying to earn AA miles for the same flight. But you might be able to flash your Royal Air Maroc Gold card to get into Admirals Club lounges for example…
Bottom Line
Oneworld Sapphire status is very useful. So if you are interested in a year of Oneworld elite benefits, this status match is the perfect opportunity…
