Here is our summary of the main hotel chain-wide promotions available in February 2022.
Hilton Honors
Hilton’s first promotion of 2022 started on January 1st. Members earn 2,500 bonus points per STAY.
Worth It?
2,500 bonus points is worth $12.50 at best. For an inexpensive stay, this can be a reasonable bonus (but not for long, expensive stays!)
You can also earn these bonus points on award stays.
World of Hyatt
Hyatt’s first promotion of 2022 started on January 15th. Members can earn 2,022 bonus points every SECOND night.
Confusingly, Hyatt credit card holders can also earn 1,000 bonus points per STAY at selected hotels in the United States.
Worth It?
The worldwide promotion works out to 1,011 bonus points per night, worth roughly $15-18. For an inexpensive stay, this can be a reasonable bonus. But for expensive stays you won’t be happy with the % rebate.
However, you also earn these bonus points on award stays.
Marriott Bonvoy
Marriott’s first promotion of 2022 will start on February 8th. Members can earn double elite status credit and 1,000 bonus points per night.
Worth It?
1,000 bonus points per night is worth roughly $6-8. For an inexpensive stay, this can be a reasonable bonus. But for expensive stays you won’t be happy with the % rebate.
The double elite night element will be very attractive to those readers chasing Marriott elite status.
IHG Rewards
IHG’s first chain-wide promotion of 2022 starts today (February 1st). Members can earn double points. These bonus points also can be used for the purposes of qualifying for elite status (via the points method).
Worth It?
Since IHG points are worth 0.4-0.5 cents each, a double point bonus is worth an additional 4-5% of rebate.
However if you are interested in earning elite status before everything changes in March 2022, the fact that these bonus points count for status can be quite appealing…
Bottom Line
All 4 major hotel chains now have a chain-wide promotion running in February 2022. None are particularly lucrative for expensive paid stays, but the elite status multiplier for Marriott and IHG is certainly worth considering…
