Earlier today, I wrote about the status match being offered by Italy’s ITA Airways. I neglected to mention, however, that new members of “Volare” can earn 10,000 bonus points.
All you need to do is join Volare before November 15, 2021. Click here to be taken to the (Italian) registration page.
Once registered, you simply need to take two one-way flights before December 31, 2021 (on ITA Airways of course). This is going to be much easier (and cheaper) if you are already planning to visit Europe this fall, and can add a short European hop to Rome or Milan…
What is 10,000 Points Worth?
An excellent question… and one that nobody really knows the answer to.
Volare members cannot redeem their points on anything until March 1, 2022.
We don’t even know whether Volare will offer award charts, or whether the program will be fully revenue-based, with points worth a euro-equivalent discount against the cost of a paid ticket. But since Alitalia’s MilleMiglia used the term “points” in the same way most airlines use “miles”, I would make the basic assumption that 10,000 points might be worth a one-way reward flight within Italy or perhaps Europe…
Bottom line
10,000 miles for a weekend trip to Italy would normally have me reaching for my credit card. But since Volare has no award chart or airline partnerships, it would be one of the more speculative mileage runs I could ever make…
