Air Canada’s Aeroplan program is offering – in conjunction with StatusMatch.com and Destination Canada – an impressive status match deal for members resident in the U.S.
Once matched, you will receive Aeroplan elite status:
- Until the end of 2021… completely for free
- Until the end of 2022… provided you fly one round-trip on Air Canada before midnight on January 15th, 2022
Which Competing Statuses Can be Matched?
Aeroplan has put together a handy little chart. Of course, it is not going to match elites from its Star Alliance partner United, but the other major American programs are all present…
Which Benefits Will I Receive?
Depending on the level of Aeroplan status you are granted, you should be free to choose from the following benefits (if not initially, presumably in 2022):
The 50K level and higher are considered to be “Star Alliance Gold” – if you are mainly interested in the benefits you might receive on United or some other Star Alliance airline.
Where Do I Apply?
You can click here to be taken to the status match webpage. Once you have applied, you should hear back within 3 days, and your Aeroplan account should be updated within 5 business days…
How Often Can I Status Match?
If you are approved, you will not be able to receive another status match for 2 years. So I would certainly recommend only applying today if you are able to meet the requirement for a return trip on Air Canada. And even better if you plan to use Aeroplan going forward as your main Star Alliance program.
