In our latest monthly rundown of hotel chain promotions, these are the main chain-wide promos available in September 2021.
Hilton Honors
Hilton’s current promotion runs until September 6th – click here to register – where you can earn:
- Double points for stays of one or two nights
- Triple points for stays of three nights or longer
Hilton’s next promotion will start on September 7th – click here to register – where you can earn:
- Double points for all stays
- Triple points if you pay using a Hilton co-branded credit card
Worth It?
If you commit to Hilton Honors with the Aspire credit card and its associated Diamond status, you can earn up to 54 points per $ spent. This super-charged earning helps offset the huge number of points needed for free nights. If you can’t or won’t get the credit card, a mere double points promotion is fairly weak…
IHG Rewards
Most, if not all, IHG members have been targeted with a promotion that will run until September 30th. Registration is required (click here). Members can earn:
- 3,000 bonus points after two nights
- 3,000 additional bonus points after two more nights
Worth It?
6,000 bonus points is worth approximately $30. So not really “worth it”…
World of Hyatt
Hyatt’s summer promotion will run until September 15th. Registration is required – click here.
Members can earn triple points for stays of 2+ nights.
Worth It?
If you have an expensive stay planned for early September, then the triple points element will be quite lucrative. (just make sure to check out before the 15th) You could receive a rebate of 30-40%, depending on your elite status and whether you have the co-branded credit card.
Marriott Bonvoy
Marriott’s fall promotion will begin on September 14th. Registration is required.
Members can earn:
- 1,500 bonus points per paid stay
- 4,500 bonus points per paid stay at an all-inclusive resort
Worth It?
If you like to hop from one hotel to another, those 1,500 bonus points will start to add up. But for long, expensive stays, this promotion isn’t going to make any difference…
Radisson Rewards Americas
The first promotion from the stand-alone Radisson Rewards Americas will run until September 12th, 2021. Registration is required. You can do that by clicking here.
Members can earn double points (i.e. an extra 20 points per US dollar) at properties in North, South and Central America, including the United States, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
A second promotion is now running (although due to booking period restrictions you cannot stack the two) where Radisson Americas members can earn 7,000 bonus points per night, up to a maximum of 70,000 bonus points. Registration is also required.
Worth It?
I like 7,000 points per night A LOT more than double points (the breakeven is at $350 per night pre-tax), even though you cannot earn enough bonus points for even one night at Radisson’s top hotels in the Americas…
The Bottom Line
The promotions currently on offer aren’t really too much to get excited about. Hyatt is the pick of the crop, but ends half way through September. If you are eligible for triple points with Hilton Honors, that could potentially work out quite well too.
