IHG Rewards has just announced an appealing promotion for new members who sign up by July 31st, 2021. Although it is hard to imagine too many InsideFlyer readers who aren’t already a member, some of you might be willing to ignore the rules against duplicate accounts… 😉

What’s the deal?

• Join IHG Rewards between June 1st – July 31st, 2021
• Complete two Qualifying Stays between June 1 – September 6, 2021, to receive a Reward Night (worth up to 40,000 points)
• The Reward Night will be deposited into the member’s account 2-6 weeks after completing two qualifying stays and is valid for 120 days from deposit.
• This offer is valid for US and UK residents only.
• Stays at Mr & Mrs Smith properties don’t count, and a Qualifying Stay must cost at least $30USD per night
• It’s always worth repeating the definition of a “Stay”, which is one or more consecutive nights in the same hotel. So, you need to something more than just stay two consecutive nights at a cheap hotel – you need to move from one hotel to another or leave a day’s gap in between “stays”

The Bottom Line

If you aren’t already a member of IHG Rewards, this is a very good incentive to join. IHG regulars might complain that it is hard to spend a 40,000 point free night certificate because, anecdotally at least, IHG’s new dynamic pricing system leads to many hotels costing 41,000 points per night or more…

The key element of making this into a lucrative “travel hack” is to find a hotel that costs little more than $30 per night and stay there for a single night and then repeat a day or two later. This is probably close to impossible in the United States – and international travel is still limited – but perhaps if your travels were to take you to Mexico / Central America or certain parts of Europe you might find such a place.

Terms and Conditions

You must be a new IHG® Rewards member and must register for this promotion in order to participate in the New Member Reward Night offer (“Offer”). New members who join IHG Rewards and register for the promotion between June 1 and July 31, 2021 (“Registration Period”), and then complete two qualified stays at IHG brand hotels between June 1, 2021, and September 6, 2021 (“Stay Period”), will be awarded a Reward Night redeemable for up to 40,000 points. If enrolling in-hotel, the enrolling stay does not count toward the 2-stay requirement. The Reward Night will be deposited into the member’s account 2-6 weeks after completing two qualifying stays and is valid for 120 days from deposit. This offer is valid for U.S. and UK residents only.

All non-members who are residents of the U.S and UK may enroll & register for this campaign during the Registration Period, at an IHG property or via web. If enrolling on-property, you will be auto-registered in the promotion but your enrolling stay does not count towards the two-stay requirement. Enrollment in this offer is not available at Mr and Mrs Smith properties. If you enroll via web, you must also register for the campaign via the campaign landing page. Additionally, if a new member has enrolled within the last 30 days, you will be eligible to register online via our campaign landing page to take advantage of the offer while the campaign is live. However, any stays prior to registration will not count towards the two-stay requirement.

Offer available at participating Six Senses properties, as identified on each hotel’s booking page. IHG Rewards is not applicable at all Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, which will be progressively included at a future date.

The Reward Night must be consumed by the expiration date listed (120 days from the date of deposit) and is nontransferable. The number of points required for a Reward Night at IHG hotels varies by date, brand and individual hotel and subject to availability. Fees may apply to the reward night.

The Offer can only be redeemed once per member and a maximum of one Reward Night, redeemable up to 40,000 points, can be achieved. The Reward Night is not redeemable at IHG® Army hotels.

A Qualifying Stay is defined as a minimum 1-night stay booked under a Qualifying Rate, with total spend exceeding US $30 per night. A Stay is defined per IHG Rewards Membership Terms and Conditions as one night or consecutive nights at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/out. Qualifying Rates include most business and leisure rates. Only one room per member per Qualifying Stay will be eligible. If more than one member checks into the same room, only one member is eligible for the Offer. No retroactive credit will be awarded for Stays prior to enrollment. This Offer is subject to standard IHG Rewards Membership Terms and Conditions and earning structure, which can be obtained here. The use of certain rates may be subject to applicable agreement(s). Any misuse of such rates is considered a fraud activity subject to IHG Rewards Membership terms and conditions. IHG reserves the right to remove a member’s Reward Night award or cancel a member’s account if fraudulent use of the Offer is detected. To the extent permitted by applicable law, IHG Rewards reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Offer at any time with or without notice.
