Earning miles for shopping online via an airline shopping portal is a straightforward way to add to your mileage balance. The rebates aren’t always competitive with cashback websites such as Topcashback. But this can change when a bonus offer is available. Two such interesting offers are available now:

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan

Between now and May 12th, 2021, you can earn:

  • 500 bonus miles for spending $50
  • 1,000 bonus miles for spending $300

United Airlines Mileage Plus

Between now and May 17th, 2021, you can earn:

  • 140 bonus miles for spending $40
  • 540 bonus miles for spending $100
  • 1040 bonus miles for spending $300

How to Easily Meet the Spend Targets

The easiest way to meet spending targets is to book a hotel stay via the shopping portal.

Marriott has recently been added to the vendor list with Alaska Mileage Plan’s shopping portal. You can earn 1 mile per $ spent.  The same applies to the United shopping portal.

The question comes up occasionally, so I’ll be as clear as possible. When you use a cashback website or airline shopping portal to click through to a hotel chain website, you are definitely booking DIRECT and qualifying to earn points, elite status credit, etc.

And, naturally, you don’t have to actually stay at the hotel during the period of the bonus mile promotion. What matters is the date of making the reservation…
