Chase Ultimate Rewards has added Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer program to its airline transfer partners allowing Ultimate Rewards points to be exchanged one-to-one for KrisFlyer miles. Points can be transferred in increments of 1,000 and there is no limit on the number of points you can transfer.
With the addition of KrisFlyer, Ultimate Rewards now allows transfers to six airline and five hotel programs.
Bottom line: The addition of KrisFlyer is particularly exciting because Singapore Airlines is known to offer premium award seating availability to its members that it does not offer to partners airlines. Transferring your points directly to KrisFlyer miles can open up award seat availability if you are looking to use your miles to book a premium flight experience. For example, if you’ve dreamed of flying “suites class”, you can fly Singapore, San Francisco to Hong Kong, for 70,125 miles one way or New York to Frankfurt, for 57,375 miles one way. Taking advantage of the sweet spots in the Singapore Airlines partner award chart can get you to Hawaii for 35,000 miles on United in coach instead of the 45,000 miles that would be required through United’s award chart. Domestic United operated business/first flights are 40,000 KrisFlyer miles, which is 10,000 miles lower than if you booked with United miles. Singapore offers one-way award redemptions at half the amount of roundtrip, including on Star Alliance partners. The ability to transfer points to KrisFlyer miles from American Express Membership Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest, in addition to Chase Ultimate rewards, is a fast and easy way to get KrisFlyer miles.
A few things to keep in mind though, when booking award flights, Singapore Airlines adds fuel surcharges to award flights and only Singapore Airlines flights can be booked online at the Singapore Airlines website. A 15 percent mileage discount on Singapore Airlines award flights is offered when the flights are booked online at the Singapore Airlines website.
