Recently the blogosphere was buzzing with news that the Virgin Atlantic miles to Hilton points exchange ratio was changing as of Feb. 6, when a note about the change appeared on the Virgin Atlantic website. The ratio was set at two Flying Club miles to three HHonors points, replacing the exchange rate of one Flying Club mile to two HHonors points. But the note disappeared from the site; and at time of publication, the exchange rate remains the same at one Flying Club mile to two HHonors points.
Transfers must be of at least 10,000 miles, and then in increments of 5,000, and can take up to 30 days. A booking cannot be made until the transfer is complete. Members can also exchange Hilton HHonors points for Flying Club miles at an exchange rate of 10,000 HHonors points for 1,500 Flying Club miles. Bottom line: We have not heard the full story about how this non-change came about, but similar events have happened in the past. Sometimes they don’t come back, but other times, it’s a taste of things to come.
