Virgin Australia Velocity members can now earn status credits when traveling on a flight award. The program says that this is a first for programs in Australia and offers another way to maintain or reach a higher membership status. Through June 30, 2013, Velocity members will earn status credits on saver award seats in the same way as earning status credits on commercial flights. To be eligible for this offer, members must book and travel on a Virgin Australia (VA) marketed and operated flight in an award fare class (X, P or Z).

Velocity also offers family pooling, parental leave of up to six months when a new addition to the family causes travel to be reduced and companion Gold and Platinum memberships.
