Qantas and UNICEF

As of Sept. 1, 2012, Qantas Frequent Flyer members are able to redeem Frequent Flyer points to make a donation to UNICEF through the Qantas Frequent Flyer Store (https://www.store.qantas.com). Members can choose to donate their points in increments of AUD25, AUD50, AUD100 and AUD250. For example, a AUD50 donation provides eight long-lasting insecticide mosquito nets to keep eight families safe from malaria. At time of press the amount of miles needed per donation amount had not been confirmed.

Qantas has been asking international travelers to donate their leftover foreign currency to the UNICEF Change for Good program on their return flight for the past 21 years and this has resulted in $25 million for UNICEF. Now, Qantas frequent flyers can donate their points to the charity. Donated points will be used to help fund UNICEF projects, such as training teachers, vaccinating children and purchasing mosquito nets.
