Virgin Australia Velocity has been rebuilt to include more options to redeem points for flights, new point earning rates and more, including a new Platinum membership level. Members are welcomed into the Platinum level when you reach 1,000 status credits and have flown eight eligible sectors in the previous 12 months. Benefits include guaranteed award seats to any international destination, complimentary upgrades, a 100 percent points bonus on Virgin Australia group of airlines flights plus select travel partners, lounge access and more.

Family benefits will soon be strengthened in the program. Family members will be able to automatically pool their points and status credits as well as pause their membership for six months for parental leave without losing their status. You will receive a complimentary Virgin Australia lounge pass for every 100 status credits you earn, can transfer your points into the account of an eligible family member, up to four times per year, and if you are a Velocity Gold or Platinum member, you’ll get more family-friendly benefits including guaranteed award seats for up to four family members, extended lounge access and you can gift a Companion Gold or Platinum membership once you earn an additional 1,500 or 2,000 status credits respectively within your membership period.

Velocity Rewards Gold and Platinum members can now also choose elite membership in either IHG Priority Club Rewards or Hilton HHonors when they are welcomed into the ranks of Velocity elite.
