Standard Bank in South Africa has signed a strategic partnership with British Airways after ending its partnership with South African Airways Voyager. Standard Bank customers who link their credit card to the BA Executive Club will be automatically upgraded to a BA Gold credit card. Cardholders will earn one Executive Club mile for every R7.50 spent. The bank is also inviting higher-tier Voyager members to apply for a comparable tier within BA Executive Club upon presentation of three months’ Voyager statements.

Voyager members can now earn miles through a new Nedbank credit card. This card has a unique dual card offer: Members can get an SAA Voyager American Express and an SAA Voyager Visa — both cards — for the price of one. And members may also qualify for free supplementary cards for family or friends — all linked to one Voyager account for accrual. Classic and gold cardholders are entitled to one free supplementary card and premium cardholders are entitled to two. Miles do not expire as long as cardholders spend R40,000 a year and double miles are offered for the first three months. Miles earned are based on the type of card used, from one mile for every R12.50 to one mile for every R6.00. Free companion tickets are offered for gold and premium cardholders.
