Early 2009 will see the maiden voyage of SpaceShipTwo, a six-person space aircraft built to rocket into sub-orbital space. Along for the zero-gravity ride will be Alan Watts, a British business man who has flown more than 30 Virgin Atlantic flights in the last six years to earn the 2 million frequent flyer miles he needed to garner this privilege. “The nearest I’ve come to space before was going on the Space Mountain ride in Florida,” Watts said after hearing of the flight. Others who are not such avid frequent flyers will have to pay the more than $250,000 price tag for the same flight.
