In the wake of recent filings for bankruptcy protection by both Delta and Northwest Airlines, international partners of the two carriers sought to ease member fears.

KLM specifically explained that Northwest’s move has no consequences for KLM’s customers and their travel plans. All tickets will remain valid and flights will be carried as scheduled. Additional services like the Flying Blue/WorldPerks benefits and access to Business Class Lounges will remain unrestrictedly available for travelers.

Northwest Airlines will continue its operations unrestrictedly, with all daily codeshare flights at the disposal of KLM customers. This applies similarly to all other flights which Northwest Airlines operates together with SkyTeam and other partners.

Likewise, Air France explained to concerned members that Delta’s filing will have no impact on Air France either from an equity or commercial viewpoint.

Air France customers can, as in the past, fly Delta-operated flights, code-shared under the AF/DL code. Passengers will continue to be able to use the Delta lounges under the conditions laid down by SkyTeam. All Flying Blue Miles earned on Delta flights will be credited to their account as before.

Delta will continue to operate normally and will remain a full member of SkyTeam, as its membership of this alliance is one of its major assets. All agreements between Air France and Delta will remain intact.
