Spanish carrier Spanair has taken a cue from stingier programs worldwide, and has reduced the number of points that can be earned in economy class.
Effective July 1, no points will be earned in the following discounted economy classes for flights in mainland Spain, Balearics and Canary Islands: M, H, S, Q, V, L, T, W, K and G.
International travel in discounted economy (Q, V, T, W, K and G classes) will now earn half the usual rate — a flight from Madrid to Copenhagen, for example, will earn 650 instead of the usual 1,300 points.
