El Al Israel Airlines is upgrading its frequent flyer programs, adding more options for members.

Among some of the changes, point expiration will be extended to three years, elite-level passengers will accrue larger mileage bonuses on flights, and the entry-level threshold for Gold status will be dropped to 2,000 points.

In addition, award levels for upgrades will be lowered (for example, an upgrade to New York will drop from 900 to 700 points), and extra points will be awarded for business- and first-class bookings.
