ANA Mileage Club is offering a status match opportunity aimed at three specific competitors – American Airlines, Delta Airlines and Japan Airlines. The status match will be available until September 28, 2022. If successful, your new status will be valid until March 31, 2023.
You must be a legal resident of the United States, Canada (except Quebec) or Mexico in order to be considered.

Star Alliance Gold Benefits
I would recommend that you only proceed with this status match if you will receive ANA’s “Platinum” status. This is equivalent to Star Alliance Gold, which gets you:
- Lounge access when flying in any cabin
- Extra baggage
- Fast track security and boarding
- Priority check-in (i.e. Business Class check-in desks)
If you fly on United Airlines, however, you will find that Star Alliance status doesn’t get you improved seating – even a lowly United Silver is better placed than a Star Alliance Gold member (partner airline) for grabbing a good seat on board…
Bottom Line
Besides the obvious benefits of Star Alliance elite status, ANA Mileage Club is an excellent, if underrated, program to consider. Its award chart offers several sweetspots, such as 88,000 miles for a Business Class return reward between North America and Europe or South America.
The major downside is the fact the hard expiry policy where your miles expire after three years. You can, however, top up your account with transfers from American Express Membership Rewards in the US.
But even if you are merely looking for a year’s worth of lounge access, etc. on Star Alliance airlines, this opportunity is worth considering…
