Hotel Bonus Promos

Hotel Bonus Promos

If you have a number of hotel stays planned this spring, be sure to register for the following hotel bonus point promotions. The combination of a sluggish economy and slow travel months in late winter means you can find some great deals and rack up some bonus points to spend on your summer vacation. Here are the deals:

SPG Night After Night:

A popular SPG promotion is back. Starwood Preferred Guest members who register for SPG’s Night after Night promotion can earn bonus points for every night’s stay completed through April 30, 2009. Guests can earn 500 bonus points per eligible night plus an additional 5,000 points for every 10th night during the promotional period. Stay 10 nights and you’ll earn a total of 10,000 bonus points–enough points for five weekend award nights at a category one hotel or one night at a category four hotel. There is no limit to the amount of points you can earn with the promotion but registration must be completed by March 31, 2009. Nights do not need to be consecutive to qualify. Visit http://www.spgpromos.com/nights for more information.

IHG Bonus Points or Miles:

InterContinental Hotels Group is offering up to 30,000 bonus points (enough for two free nights) or 10,000 bonus miles for stays completed through April 30, 2009. Members can earn 3,000 bonus points or 1,000 bonus miles for every third qualifying night at InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Express by Holiday Inn, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites hotels worldwide. No retroactive bonus points or miles will be given for stays completed prior to registration so be sure to register at http://insideflyerus.wpengine.com/link/?1370 before you stay at a IHG hotel this spring using offer code 6458. Qualifying rates include most business and leisure rates.

Marriott MegaBonus:

Marriott’s spring MegaBonus promotion began just two weeks after the fall promo ended, but you still have to register if you want to earn the bonus points. Marriott Rewards members who register will receive 2,500 points for every paid stay at Marriott hotels between Feb. 1 and April 30, 2009 beginning with your second stay, up to a total of 25,000 points. Register at MarriottRewards.com/MegaBonus or call 1-888-Marriott. The last day to register for the promotion is March 31, 2009. You must elect to earn points to receive the bonus–members choosing to earn miles for stays will not receive any bonus points or miles so update your earning preference in your profile before registering. Worldwide locations for Marriott Hotels & Resorts, JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott, TownePlace Suites by Marriott, Fairfield Inn by Marriott, SpringHill Suites by Marriott and Marriott Vacation Club International are participating in the MegaBonus offer.

Some members may receive personalized offers with different earning rates and limits.

Hyatt More Than a Bonus:

We wrote about Hyatt’s new “More Than a Bonus” promotion in last month’s issue of InsideFlyer. Members who stay two nights will earn 2,000 bonus points or miles, stay four nights and earn an additional 4,000 bonus points or miles, completing a total of six nights will bring in an additional 6,000 bonus points or miles and stay eight nights for an additional 8,000 bonus points or miles (totaling 20,000 bonus points). The bonuses are cumulative and will be given in addition to the base points a member normally earns. The bonus offer is available at any Hyatt property for stays completed between Jan. 9 and April 30, 2009. Registration is required.

Hilton Double Points:

From Jan. 6 to April 6, Hilton HHonors members can earn double base points at participating Hilton properties worldwide. Registration at www.insideflyer.com/link/?1390 is required. Bonus points will not count towards elite status and you must register prior to your qualifying stay. Members choosing to earn points & points can earn 25 points per dollar spent during the promotional period and there is no limit to the number of points you can earn.

Best Western/MasterCard Winter Promotion:

Best Western Rewards members who stay two nights between Jan. 1 and Feb. 14, 2009, earn double points, stay three nights and you’ll earn triple points, four nights, quadruple points. And when you book on bestwestern.com, you’ll earn 250 bonus points. You must register for the promotion and pay with a MasterCard. Visit www.bestwestern.com/stay234.

Comparison:

Hilton and Starwood bonuses do not have any limitations on the number of nights you need to stay in order to earn the bonus points so if you only have one night planned, you’re best bet is to stay with either of those hotels. Hyatt requires a minimum two-night stay, IHG requires a three-night minimum and Marriott Rewards members start earning bonus points with their second stay. Keep in mind also that Marriott’s promotion is based on stays only, so you will only earn a lot of points if you have multiple, short stays planned instead of a couple of long stays.

If you complete one three-night stay (paying an average of $100 per night), you’ll earn 9,000 bonus points with Hilton, 2,000 points with Hyatt, no bonus points with Marriott, 3,000 points with IHG and 1,500 with Starwood. Complete three two-night stays and you can earn 18,000 points with Hilton, 6,000 points with Hyatt, 5,000 points with Marriott, 6,000 points with IHG and 3,000 points with Starwood.
