Earning miles for online purchases is a great way to add to your mileage balance. It is as easy as remembering to visit an online shopping portal first.
The rebates from airline portals aren’t always competitive with cashback websites such as Topcashback. But this can change when a bonus offer is available. Three such interesting “Back to School” offers are available now:
Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan
Alaska Mileage Plan Shopping is offering:
- 300 bonus miles when you spend $150
- 600 bonus miles when you spend $300
- 1,200 bonus miles when you spend $600
The deadline is August 15, 2022.
American Airlines AAdvantage
American AAdvantage eShopping is offering:
- 500 bonus miles when you spend $150
- 1,000 bonus miles when you spend $300
- 2,000 bonus miles when you spend $600
The deadline is August 14, 2022.
United Airlines Mileage Plus
United MileagePlus Shopping is offering:
- 500 bonus miles when you spend $100
- 1,500 bonus miles when you spend $350
- 2,500 bonus miles when you spend $600
The deadline is August 15, 2022.
How to Easily Meet the Spend Targets
The spending targets are cumulative. A number of small online purchases can get you there. But for others, the easiest way to meet spending targets is to book a hotel stay via the shopping portal.
Marriott is now available through Alaska Mileage Plan’s shopping portal. You can earn 1 mile per $ spent. Both Marriott and IHG are available through American and United’s shopping portals.
The question comes up occasionally, so I’ll be as clear as possible. When you use a cashback website or airline shopping portal to click through to a hotel chain website, you are definitely booking DIRECT and qualifying to earn points, elite status credit, etc.
And, naturally, you don’t have to actually stay at the hotel during the period of the bonus mile promotion. What matters is the date of making the reservation…
