Enter the General Assembly “Go Places: Kyoto, Japan” sweepstakes by August 6, 2017, for a chance to win the grand prize: a five-night trip for two to Kyoto, Japan, including a $1,000 credit toward airfare, hotel, sushi and bento cooking classes, day trips to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and the Fushimi Inari Shrine.

    The specifics are rather vague on the Japan sweepstakes.

    Is that $1000 walking-around money, or is the winner expected to pay air fare for two to Kyoto and maybe the hotel out of it? If so, good luck finding a flight for that amount, and you may want to take a sleeping bag (two, if you and your companion are not *really* close).

    The $1000 is specifically earmarked for airfare. And you’re right: the winner will probably have to add some of his own funds (or use frequent-flyer miles) to make up the difference between that and that actual cost of tickets to Japan.
