Uber Offering Two Free Rides through American Airlines

If you are one of the six or so remaining people who have not yet signed up for Uber, now’s your chance. Uber and American Airlines are teaming up to offer you two free rides. Use the link here, as it will pre-fill the registration code for you. Otherwise, sign up individually and use code AA2RIDES2.

 The Uber Fine Print

Uber
Seriously? No one has ever looked that happy at an airport.

There’s always fine print that goes along with a promotion and this one is no different. Here are the key points, although you should also be sure to read the terms and conditions of the offer.

  • Rides are limited to $10 in value. Uber has been slowly pulling back on the dollar value of promotions. For example, the refer-a-friend bonus is now only $15. Could it be because of the state of the business, which seems to be heavy on “lose money on every transaction but make it up on volume?”
  • You must be a new user. Fair enough, although there are occasionally promotions out there for existing users. It also won’t work for the taxi option.
  • You need to use the code by December 31, 2016. Important: Once you use the first code, you need to use the second within 14 days.
  • American says, “Whether you’re starting your journey to the airport or just landed at your destination, Uber helps you get where you need to go quickly and comfortably.” Except at the airports that don’t allow Uber. Make sure that yours does.

Existing Users Can Still Score

Uber partners with numerous businesses to get you in their cars. For instance, you can get Starwood Preferred Guest points for every ride, once you have a stay (up to $10,000 in annual Uber spend). Or you can get a Capital One Quiksilver card and get every tenth ride free (up to $15 for the freebie) through March 31, 2017.

The Bottom Line

This promotion is a freebie. It costs you nothing to sign up and could get you a couple of free rides when you do so.
