Azamara Journey, the first of two Azamara Club Cruises ships to undergo a major renovation as part of the Reimagining Azamara campaign, has emerged from dry dock. The ship has been outfitted with appealing new features that will offer an new experience for guests. According to Azamara, the company contracted with leading designers for the hospitality, leisure, and entertainment industries. All staterooms were renewed to create a new ambiance. Stone and porcelain were used throughout the newly reimagined staterooms. Azamara Journey also introduced a series of new dining and entertainment enhancements throughout the entire ship with makeovers of the public venues.
The Patio: Formerly known as the Pool Grill, The Patio has been transformed into an al fresco dining experience featuring tablecloths and candles in the evening creating a fresh new vibe. New lighting, ceilings and fans have also been added. The Patio is also introducing a new evening menu. Guests can also enjoy live music alongside their meal on select occasions.
Windows Café: New contemporary furnishings and place settings have also been added to the popular Windows Café with the addition of tables for two, allowing more options for couples or the ability to combine tables to accommodate larger parties. Windows’ Café also features an outdoor dining area and the Sunset Bar is nearby with a new look too.
Discoveries Restaurant and Discoveries Bar: The newly refreshed Discoveries Restaurant features a new décor, lamps, seating, and sheers with a variety of different sized tables to accommodate groups of all sizes. Meanwhile, the Discoveries Bar received its own makeover featuring new bar stools, sofas, chairs and tables, sheers, painting and wood trim.
Living Room: The former Looking Glass Lounge has been reinvented into the Living Room. The relaxing area offers Azamara guests a well-furnished space with cozy chairs and sofas. A handcrafted wooden wine table sets the tone. Passengers can sample a variety of tastes including a selection of teas and coffees along with breakfast pastries, finger sandwiches, and sweets from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. In the afternoon and early evening (4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.), guests can choose from a variety of hot and cold tapas. Azamara Journey’s onboard sommelier will be available to suggest the perfect wine pairing too!
Come evening, the Living Room evolves into a space for dancing, karaoke or live music from one of the ship’s onboard musicians followed by a house DJ. Specialty performances will entertain guests while the Chef may delight Living Room dwellers with a special featured dessert on select nights.
Casino and Spirits: Azamara Journey’s casino wasn’t left out of the makeover either, receiving new slot machines, carpets, and reupholstered seating. Spirits bar is nearby to help you fuel your winning streak with an appropriate libation as well.
In April 2016, Journey’s sister ship, Azamara Quest will enter dry dock for her own Reimagining Azamara upgrades.
