American Airlines is officially making it a policy to give all Executive Platinum and ConciergeKey members traveling in coach a complimentary alcoholic beverage and food item on flights when food is offered. This isn’t a new benefit, but the policy hasn’t been consistently executed and the airline is now formalizing the offer.

Bottom line: This is a small gesture, but one that is meaningful to members. As Executive Platinum member gemac commented on milepoint, “I know that all I am really entitled to is what I paid for. If AA gives me an upgrade, I am happy to get it. If there is no upgrade available for me, but I get a sandwich and a drink, I’m still happy (not quite as happy, but still happy).”
