Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan has launched a program for members who are Alaska residents called Club 49 that includes two free checked bags for out-of-state travel as well as special discounts on fares.

In addition to two free checked bags on flights to and from the state, Club 49 members will get two annual one-way certificates for 30 percent off full flex fares when flying to, from or within Alaska. Alaska travelers flying solely within the state currently get three bags at no charge, and that will continue. Club 49 members will also get early notice about weekly fare sales.
