United, Continental and Delta are all raising their fees for checking a second bag on transatlantic flights. Passengers are allowed to check one bag for free on transatlantic routes and the new fee to check a second bag one way is increasing from $50 to $70 on United and Continental. On Delta, it will now cost $60 to check a second bag online and $75 at the airport. Delta is also now charging $30 to check a second bag to Mexico and Central America. Previously, passengers flying to these destinations could check two bags for free. And the $2 or $3 discount offered to domestic travelers who pay their baggage fees online is being discontinued. Travelers on Delta Air Lines domestic routes will now be required to pay $25 for a first checked bag and $35 for a second checked regardless of whether the fee is paid online or at the airport.
