Eos No More

Eos Airlines is the latest airline to declare bankruptcy and cease operations on April 28, 2008, following ATA Airlines, Aloha Airlines and Skybus. The all-business class carrier operated daily flights between JFK and London Stansted and was planning on expanding operations to Dubai and Paris later this year. Passengers with tickets for a future Eos flight can request a refund from their credit card company or file a claim with the bankruptcy court. Travelers can contact British Airways and Silverjet to make other travel arrangements. Club 48 members with outstanding points can file a claim with the bankruptcy court, which will determine the value of points. The Web site states: “For our Club 48 members, unfortunately, in the face of this bankruptcy filing, you will no longer be able to redeem your points for rewards. Any value related to your membership will be determined by the court as part of the bankruptcy process.”

Unlike other airline currency that became worthless overnight, Club 48 members with point balances can take advantage of an offer by Stevenswood Mendocino Resort, three hours from San Francisco, Calif., where members can redeem points for travel packages. Redemption rates vary but a resort representative told us that members who flew one roundtrip on Eos Airlines would have enough points for a free night. To redeem points for a stay at Stevenswood, call (800) 421-2810.
