Minnesota’s Sun Country Airlines has launched a Web-based frequent flyer program, Ufly Rewards. Ufly Rewards is a points-based program where members earn 10 points for a Sun Country Airlines roundtrip coach flight; 14 points for a roundtrip first class flight. Ufly members can redeem 100 points for a roundtrip coach ticket for travel within the 48 contiguous states. Roundtrip coach travel to Mexico requires 150 points and roundtrips to Anchorage or the Caribbean are available for 200 points. First class tickets are available for an additional 50 points. Members can claim awards for anyone they choose at time of redemption.
If you sign up for the program by Dec. 31, 2007, you will earn 20 bonus points. An ongoing bonus promotion offers two bonus points for each one-way first class flight. Ufly Rewards members will earn credits on flights flown after July 17, 2007; no retroactive credit will be given for prior flights.
Members can earn points through booking at suncountry.com or through Sun Country’s Reservations at (800) 359-6786. You can also earn points when booking through independent travel agencies, including online agencies such as Travelocity, Expedia and Orbitz when referencing your membership number. If you forget to provide your Ufly Rewards number, you can claim missing credit within 90 days of completion of travel by submitting a written request along with boarding pass and receipt. The Web site reads, “At this time, only Sun Country flights are valid for earning points.” (“At this time…?” does this mean that airline partnerships might follow?)
The program promotes its policy of no blackout dates or seat restrictions with its “Any Seat. Any Day. Any Time” marketing campaign. And points do not expire as long as members earn or redeem points with Sun Country once every three years. Membership is open to individuals with a mailing address in North America, including Canada and Mexico.
