The full integration into Star Alliance is receiving full attention from all South African Airways’ business units and favorable conditions for co-operation with alliance members will be pursued, SAA CEO Dr Khaya Ngqula said.
He was speaking at the release of SAA’s 2005 financial results, which saw the airline move back into the black after two years of heavy losses.
By 2006, SAA will be a full member of the Star Alliance after the airline signed a memorandum of understanding with Star Alliance in December 2004.
Membership of the alliance will offer SAA access to 152 countries, 834 airports, 15 166 daily departures, 14 787 codeshare flights, access to global frequent flyer programs and joint purchasing and saving initiatives.
