Sun Country made a big splash last month when they added several new trans-continental flights. The flights depart Washington D.C./Dulles and via Minneapolis/St. Paul they head to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. What’s in it for the frequent flyer you may ask? Well nothing, unless you are the owner of a company or a leisure traveler. With the Smile Awards Program, points are awarded to cardholders, not individuals, so a family, organization or business can combine points from a variety of travelers into one account. Being a cardholder means you are a holder of the co-branded MasterCard through MBNA. Partners are a bit of a sore point, although the Smile Awards Program has an arrangement with Icelandair Customer Club whereby award tickets are valid on both systems.
