KLM Courts Elites

KLM Courts Elites

Through Feb. 15, the KLM Flying Dutchman program will comp the elite status that any current or new member holds in another program and will match the member’s balance in the other program if they complete the Flying Dutchman flight challenge.

Now, usually when a program offers a deal like this we file it in the “too good to be true” pile and begin searching for the impossibly restrictive caveats that are invariably included in the fine print. But in this case there were surprisingly few caveats. So this deal has been moved to the “too good to pass up” file.

To get the ball rolling, submit a completed transfer form along with your latest elite-level membership statement (no more than three months old) from your current frequent flyer program to: KLM Flying Dutchman-helpdesk (SPL-MT), Postbox 12192, 1100 AD Amsterdam Zuidoost, Netherlands.

You will then receive a Flying Dutchman membership card entitling you to either SilverWing or RoyalWing status with KLM, depending on your current status with the other program. Then, when you make 10 one-way flights on KLM, or earn 7,500 service points, within the first six months, you will receive a 50 percent credit of the award points or miles you now hold with the program from which your elite status was comped, as well as an additional year of SilverWing membership and the service points earned from flying KLM.

Should you make 20 one-way flights, or earn 12,000 service points, within the first six months, you will receive a 100 percent credit of the award points or miles you now hold with the program from which your elite status was comped, plus an additional year of RoyalWing membership and the service and award points you earn with Flying Dutchman.

The benefits of SilverWing membership include access to Business Class lounges, check in at the KLM business counter, an extra10 kg of luggage allowance, waitlist priority, Internet check in and self-service check in. RoyalWing members gain access to RoyalWing lounges as well as Business Class lounges, dedicated check in at the RoyalWing or business class counter, an extra 20 kg of luggage allowance and guaranteed seat up to 24 hours before departure.
