Emirates Skywards now allows members to transfer points to any other Skywards member, not just to the accounts of immediate family members. The cost to transfer is $25 for every 1,000 points transferred. Members can also now buy Skywards points in increments of 1,000 points for $40.

Bottom line: We suggest at this cost, you should only consider buying or transferring miles if you are a few miles short of redeeming for an award.
