Aeroplan has plans to convert to a public corporation. The reorganization, which is subject to approval by at least two-thirds unit holders, is set for a vote on June 19. CEO Rupert Duchesne said that the corporate structure will provide Aeroplan with “increased flexibility to pursue attractive growth and acquisition opportunities as well as through unrestricted access to capital markets and foreign investors.” They are currently something similar, being a public trust.
