Starwood Preferred Guest recently changed the transfer option for Starpoints to Singapore KrisFlyer miles from a one-to-one ratio, to a two-to-one ratio — two Starpoints will get you one KrisFlyer mile. The change was made without advance notice to members. As Gary Leff of the View from the Wing blog mentions, “When you want an award it’s best to redeem it, because tomorrow’s value is unlikely to be better than today’s.”

SPG members can transfer up to 79,998 Starpoints into their KrisFlyer account and will continue to earn 5,000 bonus Starpoints for every 20,000 Starpoints transferred within the same transaction. There is no minimum point transfer requirement for Platinum members. Gold members have a minimum point transfer of 1,500 Starpoints, and Preferred members have a minimum point transfer of 2,500.
